Julie Schildgen
Julie is the department chair of the Graphic Arts Technology program at Rock Valley College. Her teaching experience ranges from teaching middle school on an Indian reservation, high school in Connecticut and New Jersey, and college level at Montclair State and Illinois State. Julie comes from a family of both printers and educators. She has been published in numerous publications and holds multiple educational awards. She is also the resident print and bindery guru as well as the go-to person for questions and problem solving regarding our program.

Scott Fustin
Scott began his schooling with a passion for Illustration but during the course of his college career switched majors to Graphic Design. After graduating, he worked for a small design agency which allowed him to explore many avenues of design such as technical and traditional illustration, photo-manipulation, 3D modeling and animation, page layout, photography, video editing, and much more. Teaching full time now, he loves bringing the same type of "real world" design agency projects to the classroom. Scott has been with the program since its inception in 2001.

Bretta Holstein
Bretta has over twenty years experience in traditional and digital photography, including in fields such as, industrial, commercial, portrait, wedding, and journalistic. Her background includes an extensive knowledge in photographic darkroom operations and techniques, as well as modern software techniques. She has several years of teaching experience, teaching Photoshop, Illustrator, and desktop publishing courses as an adjunct instructor in our prorgram.

Derrick Wessel
Darrick has been working in the industry since 2003. He earned his degree through our Graphic Design program and has had much success since graduating. Darrick works in the graphics department for a Miller Lite distributing company. He has also published artwork for a book called "The Separation Effect", written by Jamar Henderson. Since 2009 Darrick has worked as an adjunct instructor in our program teaching Photoshop, Illustrator, and desktop publishing courses. He is passionate about teaching and sees himself teaching for many years to come.
